Emma Mudgway is a visual artist based on the Coromandel Peninsula, in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Her making process provides space for an exploration of relationships, the subtleties of connection, our strivings for communication and where we find meaning in contemporary everyday life.
Selected exhibitions include no ideas but in things at Toi Poneke Arts Centre, Wellington, NZ, (2013), Young and Gifted, The Tui McLauchlan Art Award at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, Wellington, NZ, (2014) We Are: New Stories on Immigration at Ugly Duck Project Space in London,(2015), Actes D'amour/Acts of Love (Pain Perdu/French Toast Issue #1 Launch) at Galerie Simple in Paris (2016) and most recently Origines/Origins (Pain Perdu/French Toast Issue #2 Launch) at Leyden Gallery in London (2017) and Double Tap That, at Studio One Toi Tu in Auckland, NZ (2018).
In 2015, whilst based in London, UK she co-founded The Kitchen Table Collective. To date the group have collaborated to produce 4 exhibitions and an independent publication Pain Perdu/French Toast. Issue 2 of Pain Perdu/French Toast was launched in Spring 2017, in London and Berlin.
Emma also works on creative projects within her community and with Young People with Learning Disabilities.
